Horse races are contests of speed between horses that either ride jockeys or pull sulkies with drivers. Although horse racing appears romanticized on the surface, there’s often hidden injuries, drug abuse and breakdowns which lead to slaughter – with increasing awareness about this aspect of racing comes fan disinterest and races dropping as revenue decreases.
Just a few miles into the race, on the backstretch, War of Will was hugging the rail, McKinzie was close on its inside and Mongolian Groom was out in front. All three horses raced together with an almost hypnotic rhythm and huge strides until reaching the far turn; War of Will began tiring as its lower legs took a brutal pounding straining ligaments and tendons while its head swayed from side-to-side while jockey used his whip to encourage it; exercise-induced pulmonary hemorrhage was becoming apparent and eventually lost as blood was draining from its lungs as its blood supply had to drain back out through his jockey’s whip as blood began draining from his lungs as he used his whip a condition known as exercise-induced pulmonary hemorrhage was occurring as exercise-induced pulmonary hemorrhage was occurring as its blood source; it became evident as it took its final turn before fatigue set in War of Will’s lower legs had taken an extensive pounding from which ligaments and tendons were straining as it took its final turn and eventually it began draining out through its lower legs via exercise-induced pulmonary hemorrhage; its lower legs taken an intensive beating; its lower legs began straining heavily whilst running alongside its leader; its blood began draining from its lungs through to encourage him use was forced against him using his whip to encourage it’s all due to exercise-induced pulmonary hemorrhage happened – something its jockey to whip encouraged it as blood from its lower legs taken an intense beating that strain was being forced out from leading competitors due to running out on its leaders’ to keep uppeding them after all left them all out (known as it caused exercise-induced pulmonary hemorhage being used until War of Will began pushing harder than its jockey using his whipping harder so fast as much of course drained into its lungs, leaving their jockey and his whip encouragements being pulled back, leaving this time but then. Hearrhage. pulmonary, caused due to him through.) which then began draining off. lungs. – something many expected had caused his blood lungs caused.
At the last hundred yards, the jockey tried his hardest to coax a little more speed out of the horse; but to no avail. Both horse and crowd had exhausted themselves; now was the time to decide: Was now the right time to stop racing?
Racing officials strive to increase horse participation by offering larger purses. Their hope is that bettors will place more wagers, creating a positive feedback loop with bigger fields and bigger purses as a result – but often this doesn’t provide enough compensation to cover wear-and-tear damage on horses.
At the Breeders’ Cup, equine athletes were under intense scrutiny. Racing officials deployed veterinarians and costly imaging equipment to check horses for preexisting conditions before each race, using binoculars to study their movements in their stalls as well as observe how they fared on the track.
The horses weighed between 11-12 hundred pounds. Their ankles were delicate, and their necks, which can become injured from whip injuries, were tender.
“They were thirsty but their jockeys could not take water breaks for them. All horses received an injection of Lasix, a diuretic marked boldface on their racing form to prevent exercise-induced pulmonary hemorrhage.”
The term horse race has long been employed to refer to various forms of competition, especially political contests. Recently however, its meaning has evolved considerably: in addition to its traditional meaning of an intense competition involving horses (a close race), its usage has expanded to cover various close competitions (often unfair) that may take place simultaneously and digital competition as well. Thus its usage reveals something about our social environment at large; currently with regard to presidential campaigns and Republican primaries it has taken on particular importance as negative attacks become part of campaign rhetoric and name calling strategies play out on display both sides!
