Singapore Prizes

Singapore Prizes are awards or recognitions given for notable accomplishments and can take the form of medals, trophies, certificates or other items. Awarded either by government agencies or private organizations – some prize recipients are named after well-known people or events; others after cities or regions within Singapore itself; some even honor achievements made in business, science or other fields. The most coveted Singapore prizes recognize achievements made across business, science or other disciplines.

Toto Lotto (short for “Tot” lottery) is a legally licensed form of lotterie sold in Singapore by state-owned Singapore Pools. As one of two most popular gambling activities after 4-Digits, its profits go towards charitable causes. Part of Toto’s appeal stems from its low minimum bet of S$1 and potential to win huge jackpots.

Singapore is home to some of the most renowned prizes in Southeast Asia, such as the NUS Singapore History Prize which honors books that explore Singapore’s unique and complex history. Nominees for this award are nominated by a Nominating Committee that operates by consensus, while final selection is made by a five-member Jury Panel led by Kishore Mahbubani, Distinguished Fellow at NUS Asia Research Institute.
